Through my portraits I have mostly explored the female form. By focusing on the women that surround me, I want to capture the pride in femininity. As a woman of Pakistani descent, I am fascinated by the female Muslim figure; for me she embodies warmth, home, joy, and strength. This project aims to change the view of women, as “other”, submissive and silent, into proud, powerful and beautiful.
